Laughter Yoga, a physical approach

In a laughter workshop, laughter is stimulated using physical movement, breathing techniques and games playing with the sound of laughter, rather than through humour. Such laughter is more intense and longer lasting than the usual bursts of laughter in reacting to humour. It is thus possible to reap the full benefits, physical, emotional and spiritual, of whole body laughter.

Organization of the space

For the active part of the laughter workshop, an open space is required that allows participants to walk around and meet each other to share their laughter. For the relaxation session that usually ends the workshop, participants may lie down if circumstances allow it (with yoga mats, for example), or they may sit on chairs. Persons with reduced mobility may partcipate while seated for the entire session.

Timing:

The laughter workshop lasts for about an hour.

Workshop structure

  • Explanation of the principles of Laughter Yoga
  • Laughter Yoga exercises led by the facilitator
  • Laughter meditation experience that one can practice subsequently alone at home
  • Relaxation session and inner smile meditation
  • Sharing of experiences and comments or questions

Greater Montréal and vicinity and other Québec locations

Within the Greater Montreal area, there are no travel expenses. Outside of this zone, additional costs may apply. 

Remote workshop on Zoom

The laughter workshop can take place using Zoom online. Participants can meet in a common location, as described above, but it is also possible that each person be seated before their individual screen anywhere in the world.

Number of participants

“The more the merrier!” There is no maximum limit to the number of participants. I recommend a minimum of five people, but it is even possible to share the exercises with a single well-motivated individual.

Target audience

Laughter Yoga is accessible to everyone. Instruction can be given in English, French or Spanish.

Price

Flexible, depending on the number of participants, the type of organization, the available budget, the number of sessions, etc.
